EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT and CRITICAL CARE PHARMACISTS:
Award-winning multi-hospital system located on the beautiful coast line of Hilton Head, South Carolina. An integral part of the healthcare community and well known for their award-winning Emory-affiliated and nationally-recognized cancer, vascular surgery and orthopedic services. We are presently reviewing applications for a Clinical Pharmacist position specializing in the area of Emergency Medicine. Under supervision of Operations Manager and Director of Pharmacy, you will function in a high level clinical role but may be expected to participate in operations from time to time.
The clinical pharmacists’ role in the emergency department (ED) at SJ/C revolves around the clinical responsibilities of a pharmacist in an ED, such as: code response house-wide, stroke response, STEMI response, RSI, sepsis, DKA, toxicology, moderate sedation, etc. The pharmacists’ role is very hands-on and “at the bedside,” including administration of medications. Other roles include: provision of drug information to ED, admitting, & consulting physicians/NPs/Pas; medication reconciliation; order verification; Pyxis & Meditech management; and many other pharmacy related items. We have a Culture & Sensitivity Follow-up process that is primarily pharmacy managed utilizing a physician approved protocol. We also have many administrative responsibilities, including ED order set creation and review, committee participation, and precepting of PGY2 EM and Critical Care residents, PGY1 residents, and PharmD students.
