Clinical Informatics Pharmacist
The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist (CIP) works in the build, implementation, and maintenance of automation and technology to optimize pharmacy practice, pharmacy systems, and the medication use process. CIP specializes in the medication process, from ordering to administration, and is responsible for effective process design, development, and implementation of the MediTech Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and clinical decision support at Memorial Hospital. CIP works as a liaison between the Information Technology (IT) department and the Department of Pharmacy Services to incorporate medication management initiatives into MediTech EHR and supports successful design, implementation, and ongoing support of the computerized physician order entry (CPOE) process. CIP maintains process and system documentation. CIP functions as a liaison for additional clinical informatics systems, maintaining/updating the formulary and clinical data files in MediTech and the Pyxis automated dispensing systems. CIP supports the clinical end users, providers, pharmacists, nursing staff and ancillary staff as the resource for requests related to EHR and pharmacy system changes and additions CIP provides EHR related staff education and training. CIP works collaboratively and directly with the vendors and technical experts. CIP resolves problems, maintains system, and participates in remote technical support.
